Haul

Dear all,

Sorry it has been so long. Since finishing my assignments I have been trying to sort out my new products so I could show you in a video. I have been making palettes and making colour charts etc.

I have done some art work which I show in the video. I will also be posting pictures below.

As mentioned in the video I bought the Caran D' Ache Pablo pencils. I do have a selection of Prismacolour pencils but in my opinion the Caran D'ache Pablo pencils are softer and I prefer the look I can get with them. I did manage to get a bargain on them but I have been looking to buy these pencils for a long time. I would purchase these pencils at full price in a heartbeat.

The Supracolour pencils are gorgeous also. They are nice to use and lay down very nicely. There is plenty of pigment and they are re-workable. I will be buying the full 120 set of these in the future.

The Inktense pencils are different to the Supracolour pencils, or at least that's how I justified buying both :), in the sense that the inktense is more vivid so if you want a subtle colour the Supracolour pencils work better for that purpose. The Inktense are not re-workable so if you want a permanent colour then the inktense are for you. Finally, the Inktense can be used on fabric, which is why I purchased these in particular.

If I had to pick one type of watercolour pencil, for my purposes, then I would pick the Caran D'Ache pencils. This is just my opinion and I am sure that there are people out there who only have the Inktense. Luckily, I don't have to pick and I have the benefit of using both.

Lastly, the Peerless Watercolours I have wanted for a long time. I finally decided to just go for it and purchase the full set. The palette took a long time to make but I don't regret buying them because the colours are gorgeous and they are very portable. The baby palette I made is very useful. I do recommend testing the colours before you arrange your palette so you can get them in a colour order that you like.

I decided to do a test with a Stampin up blender pen and it works well for both the watercolour pencils and the Peerless Watercolours. I am thinking of using that instead of a waterbrush just so there is less mess and I don't have to carry water around in my handbag.

I hope you enjoyed. I will be back shortly with a scene.

Sorry!

Dear all,

I would like to apologise for the lack of content.

I want to explain. As you may be aware my work have allowed me to do a course. I officially became a student again the other day and I found out that all my assignments have to be in by the 1st April so I am in the middle of a stressful panic trying to get them all done.

I have had no time to prepare any scenes  or any other artwork since.

I do have a picture of the Mother's Day card I made. I managed to fit this in before I started the assignments.

I sketched, drew and painted the Black Capped Chickadee.

I hope you enjoy.

Seaside Mini

Dear all,

Today I finished another mini scene.

I remembered to take a picture at a lot of the different steps.

Here it is stamped on watercolour card. Most of the stamps used in this scene are from the coastal Hobby Art set and the reeds stamp is a Stampscapes stamp.

This picture shows the masking fluid on the cliff. I masked the cliff off so that the colours from the sky don't run in to it.

Here is the scene after the mask on the cliff has been removed. I'm sure you know by now that I love the reveal part of the process. This scene is coloured using Windsor and Newton watercolours.

Here it is completed but with the masking tape still in place.

Then finally when I have removed the tape to reveal the neat edges.

I hope you like today's scene. I should have a haul post coming up for you soon.

I hope you enjoyed.

Cute Cabin

Dear all,

Today I finished a scene as well as coloured a cute mermaid. You may recognise the mermaid stamp from an earlier post. I found another one stamped out on my desk and thought that I might as well colour it in.

She is coloured using Copic Markers and then stuck it in the museum book.

On to the scene, well I remembered to take a picture of the stamped scene today. It is stamped on watercolour card. In this picture there is masking fluid on the cabin.

The stamps used in this scene are all Stampscape stamps.

I decided to take a picture once the background had been done and I removed the masking fluid from the cabin.

I coloured this scene using Windsor and newton and Terry Harrison Paints.

Here it is, the big reveal. The moment when you take off the masking tape and reveal the pretty edges.

I hope you enjoyed.

Sheep!!!

Dear all,

I have missed doing daily scenes. I feel like I am forgetting something when I don't do one.

Today I completed another scene. I again forgot to take a photograph of it before I coloured it in. I will try to do better next time.

It is stamped on watercolour cardstock and coloured using Windsor and Newton and Terry Harrison paints.

Time to try and remember which sets the stamps come from. The dragonfly came from a Card-io Majexstic stamp set called Oriental Magnolia. The fence is from a Card-io stamp set called Christmas Scenery 1. The flowers at the front of the scene are from a Card-io stamp set called Early Spring blooms. The sheep came from a Hobby Art stamp set called Hillside Scene its. See I remembered this time!

In the above picture I have masked the sheep using masking fluid and stuck the watercolour card to the plexiglass using masking tape.

In this picture I have removed the tape and masking fluid. I love the reveal. I suggest you give it a go because it is really good watching the scene come out.

Here it is in the book. I think it looks cute in the picture frame.

The book is really filling up now. It looks really good flipping through it. I really recommend buying this book, even if just for the satisfaction of flipping through it looking at all your art work in cute frames.

I will be publishing another scene tomorrow so please come back and have a look.

I hope you enjoyed.

Field scene

Dear all,

I miss the title!

Well as promised I am publishing a scene I stamped today.

I again forgot to take pictures of the scene stamped.

Here it is coloured:

It is coloured with Windsor and Newton and Terry Harrison paints. The pink blossom on the tree is added with a red and white acrylic paint pen mixed together.

The stamps are from a Hobby Art stamp set.

Here is the scene in the Museum book.

I will definitely be publishing a scene on Saturday. I am not sure about other days this week but it is quite likely I will be publishing scenes on other days so keep checking back.

I hope you enjoyed.

Day Thirty... Completed!

Dear all,

Well today is the last day of the thirty in thirty challenge.

I feel sad that the challenge is over. Originally I planned to continue to try and do a scene every other day but fortunately or unfortunately, depending on your opinion, my work have allowed me to start a new course so I will not be able to commit to so many in a week.

I have decided to aim for at least one a week, no matter how small or large. There will be weeks when there will be more and there will more than likely be weeks where I cannot do any.

Anyway, on to the scene. I am disappointed in myself that on the last day of the challenge I forgot to take a picture before I started colouring.

It is stamped on watercolour card and coloured with Windsor and Newton and Terry Harrison paints.
I also stamped the leaves using Posca Acrylic Paint Pens.  The bushes stamp came from a Hobby Arts set, the tulip stamp came from Joanna Sheen flower pots stamp set and the tree and leaves is a Sutter Stamp.

You may notice in the picture above that the white border is not even so I decided I better trim it off. So here it is without the border.

I think this looks scene looks really pretty in the museum book.

After I have started the course I am going to plan a day every week where I publish a new scene. That way you will know when I will be publishing in the event that you want to continue viewing my scenes. I will continue to do haul blogs as and when I purchase anything.

So keep checking in.

I will be publishing a scene tomorrow. I hope you come back and have a look.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenty Ninth Day... Completed!

Dear all,

Well the second to last day of the 30 in 30 challenge has arrived. I can't believe the challenge is almost over. Many of the scenes have gone in to the museum book. Although the bigger ones I have been doing recently, as I have mentioned before, are going in to my boyfriends picture frame.

Today I decided to do a bigger picture. Well technically I decided to do the same picture as yesterdays blog.

Here is the scene from yesterday. It was airbrushed on to glossy cardstock.

I decided I could do better so I thought I would try it in watercolour this time,

Here it is stamped on to watercolour card. I am using the same one as yesterday.

I decided to try the masking fluid today. The super nib was a bit confusing to use to start with but it didn't take long to get the hang of it.

Here is the scene with all the masking done. The tree did take a bit longer to dry. Everything apart from the tree took about 10/15 minutes. The tree probably took 20 minutes.

I used both Windsor and Newton and Terry Harrison paints. I finished the colouring on the scene and then I added the reeds on top.

Here it is finished.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenty Eighth day... Completed!

Dear all,

Today I went shopping so I have some new goodies to show you.

The first thing to show you is my new brushes. I got some Pro Arte Masterstroke Filbert brushes. I got two of those. I also treated myself to a Pro Arte Renaissance Squirrel brush in size 3/0.

The squirrel brush is the one in the middle. I used the small filbert and the squirrel in todays painting and I absolutely love them.

I also bought an A4 piece of Perspex to paint on like in the picture below. This keeps my painting nice and flat. It is taped down with medical tape.

I also purchased some new paper. It is made by Daler Rowney and it is 100% Cotton. It is cold pressed and it is smooth.

I also purchased the Masquepen masking fluid with the supernib. I didn't use it this time so I don't know what it will be like.

Here it is stamped out on to the new paper. I believe everything in the scene apart from the roses comes from Hobby Arts sets.

I coloured it using Windsor and Newton watercolour paints and Terry Harrisons paints. I used the new brushes.

Here it is in the book. I love the border around the edge. I originally planned to trim it off but I really liked it with the white edge.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenty seventh day... part two completed!!!

Dear all,

I managed to finish the scene so here it is:

From this:

To this:

This scene was coloured using a Aztec Airbrush and Liquitex Acrylic Inks. I am tempted to put some white pigment ink on the top to create fog and the scene needs spraying but apart from that the scene is complete. If I alter the scene I will post a further picture.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenty Sixth day... half completed!

Dear all,

Well today will have to be a two parter. I wanted to airbrush a scene but because I work it is hard to try and do it all in one night. Therefore, I decided to make it a two parter.

It is stamped on glossy cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I masked the scene of using Frisket Film.

Here it is:

So far I have stamped, masked and started the sky.

I will hopefully be finishing it off tomorrow.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenty Fifth Day... Completed!!

Dear all,

For todays blog I decided to do yesterdays scene again with a different sky.

I stamped it out on watercolour card and coloured it with Windsor and Newton Watercolours and Terry Harrisons watercolours.

Here it is:

I apologise for todays blog post being a bit short but I wanted to try a different sky in the same scene and see what happened. The idea being that this is sunset and yesterdays is sunrise.

I hope you enjoyed.

Twenth Fourth day... Completed... Plus a haul!!

Dear all,

Let me start todays blog post with me telling you about my new watercolour supplies. I needed some colours for my skies which I got today. I purchased Naples Yellow, Quinacridone Gold, Neutral Tint, Auerolin, Cobalt Violet and a pack of empty half pans.

I also ordered Terry Harrison's three greens. You can buy them individually but I decided to buy the set of three because I liked the look of all of them. They are great colours and the packaging is so cute. The pictures below are of the box which they came in. I don't like working with tube watercolours so I wanted to put them into empty pans.

I wanted to label the pans before I filled them so I wrote his initials on one end of  a long label and the name of the colour a bit further down. I then cut them out separately. I stuck the initials on the smaller side and the name of the colour on the long side as shown in the two pictures below.

I then put the paint inside the pans.

The palette I purchased a while ago was supposed to hold 24 half pans but I altered it to hold 39 half pans. The palette is metal so I put magnets on the bottom of the pans and they stay in place in the middle of the palette.

The four pictures below demonstrate how to do this. I take a half  pan and use these square adhesive blobs to stick on a rectangular piece of magnet strip to the bottom of the half pan. I used the adhesive blobs because it holds the magnet on but if you pull it off hard enough you can remove it completely.

I forgot to stick the magnets to the pans I was filling before I filled them so I had to try and stick the magnets to them afterwards without tipping the paint out. I would recommend putting the magnets on first.

That is it for the haul part of todays blog so on to the scene.

Here is the scene stamped on to watercolour card. I think most of the stamps are Hobby Art stamps except for the birds and the deer. The birds are from a Lyndsay Mason set I believe and I think the deer comes from a Creative Impressions set. I find it really hard to remember which set my clear stamps come from because they are in one folder and I haven't distinguished between them in any way. I am going to try and inventory all my stamps soon so I will look up all the sets I have and take pictures etc so hopefully I will be better in the future at remembering where they come from.

It is coloured with Windsor and Newton watercolours and the three Terry Harrison greens. I wanted to use some of my new colours so as well as the three greens I used Naples Yellow and Quinacridone Gold, in the sky.

I really love this scene. I think the three greens are really nice colours and they work well with each other. I hope you like it to.

The picture below is of the scene in the museum book. I don't think you can tell from the picture that it is in the book but I thought you might like to see it anyway.

I hope you enjoyed.
