Spring Scene

Hi all,

I have prepared a scene for the Stampscapes and Sutter Stamps Facebook Groups challenge. The theme was Spring.

The photograph is not the best but I have recorded a video. I forgot to record the stamping section and I didn't have time to record a voiceover.

I hope you enjoy.

February Birthstone Bookmark

Hi all,

Here is February's, slightly late, installment of the birthstone challenge. If you didn't see January's please take a look at that one below. I made the video shorter this time so it wouldn't be quite so long to watch.

I am unable to tell you all the colours I used in the painting because I mixed a lot of purples before I finished. I have listed as best as I can below:

Matthew Palmer Natural Grey
Cotman Lamp Black
Daniel Smith Quinacridone Gold
Winsor and Newton Burnt Umber
Daniel Smith Hansa Yellow
Daniel Smith Phthalo Blue (Green Shade)
Daniel Smith Pyroll Crimson
Daniel Smith Pyroll Scarlett
Winsor and Newton Dioxine Purple

Caran D'Ache Supra Colour Watercolour Pencils:
Mauve
Violet

I used the following paint brushes:

Escoda Pearla Size 8
Matthew Palmer Branch and Detail Brush
SAA Masking Fluid brush set
SAA Gold Size 6 round

I hope you enjoyed and if you have any questions, please do get in touch.

I will be back shortly with March's installment which I am currently working on.

As a side note, I am selling prints of the bookmarks if anyone is interested.

Watercolour supplies Haul!

Dear all,

I received a big order on Monday from the SAA, The Society for All Artists, and I thought I would record a haul video to show you what I received.

There are Daniel Smith Watercolours, quite a lot of them, a new palette and some other bits.

I hope you enjoy my haul. It is slightly longer than I wanted but I also show my process for how I put my colours away.

If you have any comments or feedback then leave me a comment.

Organisation photographs and secret project reveal

Dear all,

Sorry it has taken me so long to post the photographs of my stamp organisation but I have been working all out to finish the valentines present for my boyfriend.

Firstly, I will explain my system in general. I am using a ScrapRack to store my scrapbook/card making supplies and also my stamps. The ScrapRack allows for a catalogue system which is what I fell will improve my crafting. If you want to see some videos on this storage system and on the catalogue system then you should check out their youtube videos.

The catalogue stamp storage idea is basically that the pockets which you store the stamps in are numbered and they relate to the stamped image in the various catorgories in the catalogue.

In the picture below you should be able to see that the pockets are numbered.

In the picture below you can see the stamps in the top right pocket stamped on to a page in the catalogue. The catalogue is stored on one of the spinders so that you can use it easily.

There are several more examples below.

This is the start of the catalogue on the spinder.

I have managed to organise what seems like a lot of stamps already and then I look at all the folders lined up on my shelves and then I realise what a daunting task it actually is. I would love to be able to finish this soon so that I can use my stamps more effectively and efficiently.

Now, on to the secret project reveal.

I wanted to create some art work for my boyfriends valentines present. In the end I decided on creating two coasters and a large painting for him. I didn't take many photographs of them in progress because I kept forgetting and also because they took many hours to finish so I didn't want to bore you with all the progress shots. The large painting took around 20 - 24 hours to complete, over several hours. The coasters took about 7 - 8 hours each.

This is the first coaster design that I started. It is supposed to be a magpie.

This is the finished coaster. I hope you like him.

I thought I had taken an in progress photograph of this coaster but I can't seem to locate it. This is also another magpie. My boyfriend likes magpies so I wanted to create him a pair of coasters relating to magpies.

I also decided to make him a card. I love Westies and we have a pet westie so when I found the westie stamp set I loved it and had to have it. I made scenes for the front of the card and connected all the scenes together using a lantern stamp from a  Card-io Majestix set.  The side panel is made using some Card-io Majestix stamp sets, one of these was called festive tweets. I used Glossy Accents on the lanterns to make it look like the lanterns are made out of glass.

I also made him a large painting. I have several photographs to show you.

Unfortunately, it appears that I didn't take a photograph of the drawing. Here is the painting with only some of the background done.

I finished the rest of the background.

Here it is framed and finished. Sorry I forgot to get a photograph of it not framed. Sorry about the glare.

Next, I have some photographs of all of the birds up close so you can see them better.

I hope you enjoyed my secret project. If you have any questions about the organisation or the art work then just leave me a comment or message me.

Organisation

Hi all,

Sorry I haven't posted the last couple of days but I've been on a organisation spree.

I have been organising my stamps into my Scrap Rack.

I haven't got any photos for you right now but I have taken some to show you my process.

As you will see from the photos I am nowhere near finishing this task but every little bit helps.

I have also been putting my dies away tonight. I bought a box and magnetic inserts to put all my dies in which I have managed to finish. I will get some photos of that box tomorrow. I didn't realise I had that many dies.

I am still working on my secret project for my boyfriend so I will have that to show you.

I will be back tomorrow with some photos.
